Question

CADRaster PRO 4.40 compatibility with Autodesk MapGuide

Answer

Problem description:
Autodesk MapGuide allows you to publish raster files on the web. It can show raster file formats including TIFF, GIF, JPEG, and more.
Every raster map must have georeference file to locate image in coordinate system, so MapGuide supports four Georeference File Formats:
  • World file (TFW),
  • MapInfo file (TAB),
  • GeoTIFF (extended version of TIFF format with embedded georeference information) and
  • GeoSPOT (header file containing georeference information, it works with BIL raster image format).
Support in CADRaster:
CADRaster can create TFW and TAB files and if you want to publish your raster file from CADRaster you have to switch on storing raster image parameters in TFW or TAB format using Rconfig/Open/Parameters dialog and force saving raster image with Enable Write check box. If these files do not exist you also have to switch on the Create file if not exist option.
In addition to individual raster files MapGuide can also show set of raster drawings in Raster Image Catalog (RIC) files. You can download VBA macro that generates RIC file compatible with TCD file. It facilitates publishing in MapGuide raster images processed in AutoCAD using CADRaster. This macro works with AutoCAD R14 + VBA or AutoCAD R14.01 and CADRaster 4.40.
How to use the sample macro:
1. Download CreateRIC.dvb (44 kB) - AutoCAD VBA macro file,
2. Start AutoCAD with CADRaster,
3. Open a TCD file for which you want to prepare RIC file,
4. Select menu Tools/Macro/Load Project and select CreateRIC.dvb,
5. Use Tools/Macro/Run Macro command to invoke dialog with list off accessible macros,
6. Select "Create RIC" file and click Run,
7. The macro will create a RIC file and display message box with its name.
