SuperEdit - hybrid raster-vector solutions for scanned maps and drawings |
SuperEdit is a standalone editor for Tessel Composite Documents (TCD). It offers advanced functions to edit full size raster images. SuperEdit shares editing capabilities with CADRaster and can be used by customers that do not use AutoCAD. Additionally SuperEdit provides multi-layered fully featured structure for creating and editing of vector entities using tools similar to other popular drafting systems.
SuperEdit is excellent tool to correct defects introduced by the source material or scanning process. After that you can use scanned images as background to new designs, vectorize image contents or modify image to bring documents up to date.
SuperEdit is currently available in English, German, Czech, Polish language versions. Finnish versions will be translated soon. Read the news section and se_read.me if you want to know more about new features in this version.
Since version 2.20 SuperEdit is available in two versions: PRO and LTX

 Interesting methods of presentation
The technology of Composite Documents designed and developed by Tessel Systems is a very comfortable and useful way of simultaneous presentation of many raster and vector documents as a one document.
SuperEdit fully supports all advantages of TCD format, additionally providing other unique and highly professional tools for presentation and editing of rasters and vectors. We can enumerate here as follows:
- magnifying glass which gives a quick automatic local zoom around the area of interest
- selective snap to raster that recognizes centerline, corner, intersection, line end, edge of raster area and circular cadastral marks
- selective snap to vector that recognizes cross, insertion point, center, midpoint, end and the nearest point of vector entity
- displaying geographical coordinates in five most popular geographical mappings:
- Direct mapping
- Gauss-Krüger P42
- Universal Transverse Mercator
- Deutsche Heeresgitter
- Generic Transverse Mercator
- inserting vectors: DWG, DXF and HPGL to raster background
- and many others like grid, snap to grid, ortho snap ...
Wide set of raster editing operations
We know that for engineers working with raster documents the most important thing is to have good and efficient editing tools. In our opinion raster tools offered in SuperEdit should satisfy your requirements.
SuperEdit provides:
- raster editing commands for raster images include move, crop, clear rectangle and polygon, align, rotate and resize independently in X & Y directions
- multiple UNDO/REDO of raster editing operations
- multi-point calibration with full graphical and numerical session control
- cut/copy/paste editing of raster images
- tools for viewing and editing raster transparency
- interactive raster trace function giving optimized polylines with automatic line width recognition
- raster split function to convert very large raster images to manageable composite documents
SuperEdit can editing images stored in fourteen different raster formats like TIFF, GIF, PCX, BMP, CALS, CIT ...
Features available in the PRO version only
- editing color images
- multi-point calibration with full graphical and numerical session control
- mixing selective and permanent raster snaps inside SuperEdit's commands
- cut/copy/paste editing of raster images
- inserting vectors to raster backgrounds and rasterizing complete vector drawings
- interactive raster trace function giving optimized polylines with automatic line width recognition
- editing of image transparency information
- displaying geographical coordinates
- raster split function to convert very large raster images to manageable composite documents
Now, all the editing operations work much faster thanks to new raster editing library added to 2.10 version.
 TSL Calibrator
SuperEdit is integrated with TSL CALIBRATOR that lets you use any number of arbitrarily located reference points with known coordinates in order to rectify scanned images. CALIBRATOR is so effective and simple to use that we recommend it not only for mapping projects but also for preparation of scanned engineering drawings. It has been field-tested in projects involving thousands of scanned maps and drawings, always with excellent results. Whenever you need better precision for your hybrid raster-vector projects, simply use SuperEdit with CALIBRATOR - the tool of choice for preparation of your scanned drawings.
CALIBRATOR supports following transformation models:
- Isotropic linear (Helmert) model - requires at least two correction vectors,
- Anisotropic linear (affine) model - requires at least three correction vectors,
- Bilinear model - requires at least four correction vectors,
- Biquadratic model - requires at least nine correction vectors,
- Bicubic model - requires at least 16 correction vectors.
 Vector drawings
Support for vector drawings in SuperEdit includes following features:
- multiple Tessel Vector Document (TVD) accessible in TCD documents
- wide set of basic vector entities includes: point, segment, rectangle, circle, circular arc, ellipse, polygon, polyline, text and predefined complex entities
- vector editing commands include move, rotate and resize independently in X & Y directions
- blocks and complexes associating together the basic entities
- cut/copy/paste editing of vector entities
- import and export in DXF format compatible with AutoCAD R13 and R14
 Excellent printing
- intelligent visually controlled printout composition
- simple selection of standard, fit and user scales
- image positioning inside available print window
- predefined templates for portrait and landscape orientations
- printing multiple documents on single page
- editing in paper space
- publishing in HTML format

Problem with USB hardware lock |
March 16, 2006
USB hardware locks working with SuperEdit and Sentinel Driver version 7.2.1 stopped responding on 13 March 2006.
In such situation it is needed to install Sentinel Driver version 7.2.2

SuperEdit 2.6 |
December 13, 2005
New functions in version 2.6 are:
- Import symbols (i.e. layers, blocks, styles, and patterns) from predefined TVD vector drawing,
- Default vector tools defined per layer. When a new vector object is created, it inherits vector tools defined for the layer it is created on,
- Measure distance command,
- Autoload geographical transformation. Geographical transformation that is saved in a drawing can be loaded while the drawing has been opened,
- Macros in printing template. The printing template may contain special text macros that SuperEdit interprets while printing documents or displaying a print preview,
- Mouse wheel support. As result you can scroll window vertically (default) and horizontally (with Shift key pressed). The capability is active during actions like drawing or zooming,
- Decimal precision in presentation of calibration results can be set by user,
- GeoTIFF file format with JPEG compression,
- Macro to calibrate without calibration model,
- and extended API functionality.
