CADRaster - hybrid raster-vector solutions for scanned maps and drawings |
CADRaster provides tools for productive utilization of scanned drawings and other raster images in AutoCAD and FelixCAD. It enables these programs to display monochrome, gray-scale and color raster images. The scanned drawings and pictures are shown on the AutoCAD/FelixCAD screen together with vector drawings (DWG/FLX) and processed using tools integrated with CAD application's commands. Raster and vector data coexist in the AutoCAD/FelixCAD session and are well defined in the same coordinate system, so that operations like zooming, panning and matching of raster images and vector drawings may be done easily and precisely.
CADRaster is an excellent tool to correct any defect introduced by source material or scanning process. After that, you can use scanned images as background to new designs, vectorize image contents or modify image to bring the document up to date.
First CADRaster version working with AutoCAD Rel. 10 was introduced on the market in 1990. CADRaster has been awarded in different countries, the most prestigious award being CADENCE Editor's Choice Award '96 for CADRaster LT.
CADRaster is available in two versions: LTX and PRO. LTX version offers limited functionality. Both products run across all AutoCAD versions from LT2005 to 2008 and are available in the following language versions: English, German, Polish and Czech. Since the 4.60 release two new language versions are available: Japanese and Finnish.
CADRaster for FelixCAD is offered since the 4.61 version. For now it is available in English, German, Japanese, Polish, Czech, Finnish and French language versions.

CADRaster PRO/LTX is the only raster overlay that supports wide range of AutoCAD versions. For each of AutoCAD versions listed above, the user may choose either LTX or PRO version of CADRaster, depending on his image processing needs. Formats of images and composite documents, all hybrid editing functions, and underlying program modules are identical for both CADRaster versions on all AutoCAD platforms. It means that hybrid documents and complete editing sessions may be freely moved between various AutoCAD/CADRaster installations.
Basic operations common for LTX and PRO versions
- fully integrated and transparent zooming and panning of the composite background and DWG foreground using standard AutoCAD Zoom, Pan and View commands
- hybrid printing of the composite background and DWG foreground drawings using the standard AutoCAD Plot command
- raster editing commands for monochrome raster images include move, crop, clear rectangle and polygon, align, rotate and resize independently in X and Y directions
- magnifying glass and selective snap to raster that recognizes centerline, corner, intersection, line end, edge of raster area and circular cadastral marks
- multiple UNDO/REDO of raster editing operations
- file management functions to handle composite documents on the main document and subdocument levels: open, close, add, delete, save, save as, copy to, convert
Features available in the PRO version only
- editing color images
- multi-point calibration with full graphical and numerical session control
- mixing selective raster snaps and AutoCAD osnaps inside CADRaster and AutoCAD commands
- cut/copy/paste editing of raster images using familiar AutoCAD block style
- inserting vectors to raster backgrounds and rasterizing complete DWG drawings
- super-easy 2..4 point Match interface for simpler calibration jobs
- interactive raster trace function giving optimized polylines with automatic line width recognition
- editing of image transparency information
- displaying geographical coordinates
- transparent printing of AutoCAD solids on raster backgrounds using standard Windows printers and plotters
- raster split function to convert very large raster images to manageable composite documents
Now, all the editing operations work much faster thanks to new raster editing library added to 4.60 version.
 TSL Calibrator
CADRaster PRO includes integrated TSL CALIBRATOR that lets you use any number of arbitrarily located reference points with known coordinates in order to rectify scanned images. CALIBRATOR is so effective and simple to use that we recommend it not only for mapping projects but also for preparation of scanned engineering drawings. It has been field-tested in projects involving thousands of scanned maps and drawings, always with excellent results. Whenever you need better precision for your hybrid raster-vector projects, simply use CADRaster PRO with CALIBRATOR - the tool of choice for preparation of your scanned drawings.
